This beautiful star may look complicated but is very beginner friendly. Using no in set seams, the entire top is made from fat quarters. A wall size quilt will be made in class but a free pattern for a larger size will be given to students. Class kit includes everything you need to make this Red Hot Star.

Mary Covey Red, White, and Blue Log Cabin

$40.00 class fee plus class kit

Celebrate the 4th of July with this patriotic wall quilt. Traditional log cabin blocks are combined with foundation pieced border blocks to make this great quilt. Available kit includes everything you need to make this log cabin quilt.

Heidi Fisher of Two Sisters at Squirrel Hollow  Hand piecing in the New Millennium

Handwork class  $40.00 class fee plus class kit fee

Come take a trip down memory lane and piece the way our Mothers and Grandmothers did; but we’ll use some new tricks.  Do you long to get more piecing done but just can’t find the time?  Hand-piecing might just be your answer.  When you hand-piece you can pick up a block you have cut out and marked and take it with you wherever you go.  You’ll understand block construction from the inside out and learn the techniques to get perfect points and set-in seams that will make you a better piecer whether by hand or machine!  We’ll go through the marking and cutting of block pieces and start a 4-block sampler ranging from simple to more complicated blocks that will give you all the tools you need to start hand-piecing right away.

Carol Porter of Heatherworks Yoyos For All Seasons

$40.00 class fee plus class kit fee

Spring Buds, Summer Blooms, Autumn Grapes, and Winter Holly are the themes for four blocks that can stand alone or be set in a year round wall hanging. Learn to make Heart and Flower yoyos along with several sizes and combinations of the traditional circle yoyo shape.  A newer method of appliqué (Appliqué from the Back) will be taught in class; this is a fabulous method for appliquéing when the background is a dark color.  You will also learn to make your own fusible bias tape for the stems! Once you learn the lessons in this class…there will be no limit to your own creative designs!

Dodi Poulsen of Two Sisters at Squirrel Hollow Icebergs Ahead (mystery quilt class)

$40.00 class fee plus class kit fee

Grab your kayak and head out to Sea for a MYSTERY with Dodi Poulsen! There’s nothing the Nut Sisters love more than a great mystery - and Dodi is going to take you for a chilling adventure. Abandon any preconceived ideas for this fabulous quilt.  Well known for her ability to turn a mystery into a themed event, Dodi will help you explore new ideas & techniques while creating this wall size quilt. (A pattern for a larger size will be given to students too).  Don’t miss your chance to paddle among the icebergs in this exciting Mystery class. You don’t want to be left out on the cold -  Burrrrrr….

Brenda Henning   Mariner's Compass

2-part class $50.00 class fee plus class kit

Mariner’s Compass - from "Mariner’s Compass Quilts ~ Reach for the Stars"; Let Brenda teach you how to be a Mariner’s Compass expert with her “Stitch - Press - Trim” approach to foundation paper piecing. A traditional mariner’s compass design will be constructed while you learn the tricks to make this difficult looking block easily and accurately. The 16” mariner’s compass can be the focus of a small wall hanging, or the beginning of a terrific larger quilt.

Lisa Moore Photo Album Quilted wall hanging

$50.00 class fee plus class kit

The Alaska Photo Album quilt features an accordion of images, with a three-dimensional appearance.  The quilt pattern uses a very innovative technique, resulting in a fantastic quilt for showcasing your favorite fabrics or photographs.  The class will use Alaska themed fabrics.  This class is fun, fast, and suitable for any level of  quilter.  You will have a choice of either the vertical or horizontal version for your kit.

Lisa Moore  Scherenschnette Quilt   2-part class  (This is a handwork class). $50.00 class fee plus class kit

This class featuring Scherenschnette icons of Glacier Bay and Alaska, plus a custom design will result in a beautiful quilt top memento of your cruise!  Scherenschnette is the German name for the ancient craft of paper cutting; Lisa will teach this technique using fusible web on fabric with fabulous results. You will be able to choose three different motifs from eight selections for your kit.

Diana Vandervoort Temari Thread Balls (This is a handwork class).  $50.00 class fee plus class kit

If you can fold a paper strip into halves, fourths and eighths, you can make Temari! Temari is a creative art form of breath-taking splendor. It has survived the thousand years because of its endless design potential and creative possibilities. Temari is traditionally given as a gift and now represents a highly valued and cherished gift symbolizing deep friendship and loyalty. It is traditional for a mother to make a ball for her daughter as a New Year's gift.

Lori Hein  Cruise Memory Quilt  2-part class

$25.00 class fee plus class kit

Join Lori in making a lasting memory of your trip with this beautiful cruise memory wall hanging quilt.  The class kit will include all fabric and supplies required to complete your quilt top.

Jackie Wolff  Alaskan Wildflowers  2-part class  (This is a handwork class).

Jo Anne Gordon  Needleturn Appliqué  Russian Nesting Doll   2-part class  (This is a handwork class).  $25.00 class fee plus class kit

This brightly-colored Matryoshka (Russian nesting doll) will long remind you of Russia’s historic influence on Alaska’s coastal communities. Appliquéd using the needle-turn method, your brightly colored Matryoshka doll will be framed by a reverse-appliqué border reminiscent of the onion-shaped domes that top traditional Russian orthodox churches.

Very little sewing required, but lots of pizzazz – just in time to celebrate the 4th of July!! The “celebration” project will include embellishing using Hot Fix crystals and your kit will include everything you need to complete the project!
